I love albums.

Is it just me, or do albums rock? I'm of the opinion that you can have the best pictures in the world, but if you print them out as 4x6's at Walmart *shudder* and slip them into those pre-made albums with 8 sleeves per page *shudder* it just doesn't do them justice. (Don't get me wrong, I do have plenty of "those" albums, and for family vacations and stuff they are just fine...I'm talking about weddings here.) :)

Albums are so pretty, and they smell good, and I love getting them! I've looked long and hard to find albums that I love, and I really do love them because I'll be making my own guestbook and wedding album just like these ones next year. :D

Here are a few of my latest....

This one is Brenda & Brian's 6x8 horizontal GuestBook. It is wonderful. I wrote more about it in an older blog post here. The silk bag above is what it comes in. I love it.

This one is Jessica and Jason's Classic Leather 11x14. It is my most popular wedding album (With good reason: It is huge and awesome.) Here are some of my favourite spreads:
Oh I wish I didn't have to give this one away! Maybe I'll just order another as a sample.... :)

My secret life as a ninja.

Ever since I snapped my 50mm 1.8 in two and upgraded to the 1.4, my style of shooting has changed dramatically.  (It is my one true love, and very soon I will most likely twist my rubber arm into getting the even better f1.2.)  This lens has transfomed me into......... a ninja girl.  I often wonder what people think when I get right down on the ground for a shot.  In a dress.  (I always wear shorts, people - it's just too dangerous.)
I shot Brenda and Brian's wedding a little while back, and am finishing up their images this week.  They are awesome!  Merilee, one of Brenda's bridesmaids, sent me this picture she took of me and it made me giggle.

This was the shot:
(50mm 1.4 @ f5)  Note to Photographers: 99 times out of 100 I shoot wide open, but in this situation shooting at 1.4 would have made Brenda and Brian into nearly indistinguishable blob-like masses of blur, so I stopped down a few.
Ok back to editing for me - this wedding will be up by the end of the week; so stoked to finally be catching up!

[Wedding] Wafa & Bilal | Burnaby

Most of you probably remember Wafa and Bilal from their engagement session not too long ago.  Well, here is their wedding!  (Sort of).  I photographed Wafa and Bilal's mehndi ceremony and reception here in BC, but their actual ceremony I believe took place in Pakistan.  It was so exciting!  I've never done a Pakistani wedding before, so I thought that all of the colours and traditions and sparkling outfits were so cool!  Their day also had all of those good wedding things that I know and love - good food, cake, good friends, heartfelt/funny speeches, and tearful moments.  It was so wonderful. Here are my favourites:

Poor Wafa was nursing a pretty bad cold, and her outfit weighed a ton!  But she was so great about it all, and without a doubt made a very dazzling bride.  Bilal sure is one lucky guy.

I think this is just the coolest.
I was so lucky to be able to photograph these two later in the day than on a usual wedding for me - that accounts for all of this gorgeous light!

The reception was held at the new Grand Villa in Burnaby - the one you can see from right off of Highway #1.  It was stunning.
I love this one of the two of them admiring their new rings right after the ring exchange.  Wafa looks very pleased.  :)

At the end of the night, it was time for Wafa to say goodbye to all of her family and friends - she would be leaving for Dallas to live with Bilal.  It was a very emotional procession - you could tell how much she is loved.

Wafa and Bilal - thankyou so much for asking me to be a part of your day.   I wish you a long and happy life together. :)

e.session | Jenny & Shawn [Westminster Abby]

Long before I decided to become a fancy pants photographer, I used to work at a restaurant - first bussing tables, then serving, and finally supervising and doing office work.  It was while working there that I met my fiance, Adam - but that's no big deal or anything.  More importantly, it was while working there that I met Jenny!
Jenny was my super duper boss, and we had some good Office talks - I would count cash, and Jenny would help me pass the time by telling me stories about boys and life.  She has also provided me with some of the best catch phrases ever (like 'Cool Beans' and 'Bad News Bears').
It was during the time that I worked with Jenny that she met Shawn.  And now she gets to live happily ever after.  :D
We headed up to Westminster Abby in Mission for Jenny and Shawn's e.session - along with their newest family member Chewy, and one of Jenny's best friends, Meghan - to help to take care of Chewy.
Jenny & Shawn with Chewy!
She was pretty excited for her close-up:
It was around this time that it started to drizzle pretty heavily.  Sweaters went on, umbrellas came out, and Jenny decided to be safe and rock a pony tail.  I love the moody feel of rainy day pictures.
Not sure if Jenny will be cool with me posting this one, but I think it's awesome.  This is so Jenny, and is exactly why everyone loves her.  :)  (Shawn included, I'm sure!)
I never knew rings could stand up like this until Jenny told me to try it - pretty sweet, mine can do it too!
I always wanted to do a wet ring shot.  Pretty.  :)
Jenny & Shawn - thank you again for an awesome shoot; I can't wait for the wedding! (and to design your kickass guestbook.)  :D
